During the initial manufacturing of most steel wheels, the center section and outer barrels were separately plated and later welded together. This method ensured comprehensive chrome coverage on the visible front side of the wheel.
To re-chrome plate a steel wheel correctly, we need to separate the wheel by detaching the center section from the outer barrel. This allows us to remove the old plating, polish, and re-chrome plate each piece individually, ensuring complete coverage on the visible part of the wheel – the front side. Once the plating is complete, we reposition the center section into the outer barrel and weld the two pieces back together. This process mirrors the original manufacturer's approach during the wheel's initial assembly. We offer both two-piece and one-piece processing options, but opting for two pieces ensures superior results.
